Minnesota Decoy Collectors Association
This group was formed in the early 1960’s. We are concerned with collecting, preserving, and documenting the folk art of decoy carving and painting of years gone by. We also encourage contemporary carvers and artists of waterfowl, game birds and shorebirds.
Decoys, although originally designed as a utilitarian object, have become an art object and a part of Americana. They are unique to America and are truly original American folk art.
We wish to focus attention on the rich heritage of collectible decoys that have been made and used in America during the past century, to learn their inimitable characteristics, and to preserve the colorful stories of the people who have made decoys. The exchange of information is a by-product of collecting.
We hold our annual antique decoy and collectibles show at the Marriott in Bloomington the first weekend of February each year.
